Cellular Automata Get Their Wires Crossed

چکیده

In three spatial dimensions, communication channels are free to pass over or under each other so as to cross without intersecting; in two dimensions, assuming channels of strictly positive thickness, this is not the case. It is natural, then, to ask whether one can, in a suitable, twodimensional model, cross two channels in such a way that each successfully conveys its data, in particular without the channels interfering at the intersection. We formalize this question by modelling channels as cellular automata, and answer it affirmatively by exhibiting systems whereby channels are crossed without compromising capacity. We consider the efficiency (in various senses) of these systems, and mention potential applications.

Two-layer synchronized ternary quantum-dot cellular automata wire crossings

: Quantum-dot cellular automata are an interesting nanoscale computing paradigm. The introduction of the ternary quantum-dot cell enabled ternary computing, and with the recent development of a ternary functionally complete set of elementary logic primitives and the ternary memorizing cell design of complex processing structures is becoming feasible. The specific nature of the ternary quantum-d...

Power dissipation in clocking wires for clocked molecular quantum-dot cellular automata

In the molecular quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) paradigm clocking wires are used to produce an electric field which is perpendicular to the device plane of surface-bound molecules and is sinusoidally modulated in space and time. This clocking field guides the data flow through the molecular QCA array. Power is dissipated in clocking wires due to the non-zero resistance of the conductors. W...

Infantile Mandibular Fracture Treatment with Double-crossed Skeletal and Circummandibular Wires: A Case Report

Abstract The prevalence of mandibular fracture is relatively lower in the pediatric population compared to adults. The treatment of these fractures is more challenging for oral and maxillofacial surgeons due to the concerns regarding mandible growth and the presence of developing tooth buds. According to the literature, conventional methods (e.g., soft diets or closed red...

Design of High Polarized Binary Wires using Minimum Number of Cells & Related Kink Energy Calculations in Quantum dot Cellular automata

Quantum dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is one of the most popular nano-technology, with the potential for faster speed, lower power consumption and smaller size than the latest CMOS technology. One of the basic building blocks of QCA circuits is QCA wire. The conventional QCA wires require more cells and it has less polarization. In this paper, we have designed high polarized wires using minimum n...
